The SOPA War: A Frantic Call, an Aborted Summit, and Dramatic New Details on How Hollywood Lost - The Hollywood Reporter

Man skulle ju önska att maffian bakom SOPA/PIPA drar något slags lärdom, nu när de inser att de inte begriper hur internet fungerar - och till och med erkänner det. 

Som jag var inne på tidigare, när det gällde erkännandet av det närmast mutliknande förhållandet mellan hollywood och politiken: det här har blivit en vattendelare. 

Such threats seem to be part of the disconnect that doomed the SOPA legislation. “They didn’t understand the politics of the Internet, the power of the Internet, the perception people had of the things they were proposing,” says an aide to a congressman who opposed the legislation. “The MPAA and the different lobbying organizations are trying to do it old-school and by the book. They ran into new technologies, new strategies, new techniques. I imagine they’re sitting around discussing how they got beat.”

Och igen, om nu Hollywood tvingas försöka förstå internet i tron att de ska lära sig vinna nästa slag - så kanske de rent av upptäcker något helt annat. De kanske upptäcker att det inte behöver vara en strid, de kanske upptäcker att det går att tjäna pengar med nätet, inte mot det.

Man kan väl iaf få hoppas?
